Hello!
Chapter 724 is beginning the registration for our Summer Technical Camps for kids 13 to 17 years old. This year we will have four opportunities, with each camp covering a separate topic in the world of aviation to include: Aviation Navigation and communication, Aircraft Construction, Aerospace System Construction and operation, and Power-plant Assembly and Theory. There will also be an opportunity to fly in a small aircraft as apart of the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagles Program later in the Summer for all participating Campers. A welcome letter will be sent out one week prior to the Camp, outlining proper attire, general rules, and what to expect for the weekend. This year the Chapter is asking for a Donation of $40, that will be payable on the first day of the Camp that has been selected. Lunch will not be provided during the camps, but a small snack and water will be available. To register for a weekend simply follow the link under the chosen date and follow the prompts.

The board of directors met Monday night to hear a proposal by Caleb Waters to form a Youth Education Camp around the EAA 724 Project Airplane. The board has elected to allow Caleb to move forward in organizing this camp which will hopefully occur in the next few months. He will need volunteers to assist in instructor roles as well as other possible support roles. The goals for the Camp will be to educate the students first, and to refurbish the Silhouette to a condition to which it can be used as a fund raiser.
The roles for the instructors will be to supervise small groups of students, educate when able by “Steering in the right direction”, use demonstrations when applicable, and most importantly keep students involved. All volunteers will have an opportunity to prepare themselves and learn more of what will be expected of them during several meetings prior to the camp beginning. Please feel free to contact Caleb Waters if you’re interested in playing a role in the upcoming camp or have questions about how you can get involved.
